Esta obra está bajo una licencia internacional Creative Commons Atribución-NoComercial-CompartirIgual 4.0. https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/This article presents the results of a Play Fairway Analysis conducted in the geothermal area located within the Acoculco Volcanic Caldera Complex. In this study, considering the proven existence of a geothermal anomaly in the subsurface (identified by deep exploratory wells of >1.5 km depth), geoscientific data from previous studies were considered as proxies for permeability and used to generate a geothermal favorability model. This Play Fairway Analysis has an expert-driven approach, as there are no wells with proven geothermal resources to perform a data-driven Play Fairway Analysis. The data used in this analysis included the location of faults, CO2 efflux, springs, soil temperature, opal deposits, and hydrothermal eruption craters. The datasets were managed and integrated using QGIS® software. The results highlight two areas with higher geothermal favorability, located approximately 200 m northwest of the exploration well EAC-1, and in the area known as Alcaparrosa. In this article, thanks to data compilation, it is also discussed why the Acoculco geothermal area could be a convective geothermal system and how the resulting areas of higher geothermal favorability are those with the greatest potential for hosting geothermal fluids.
