Resumen:
After the surge in formalist approaches that dominated the humanities
during the first half of the 20th Century, these disciplines gradually
started to incorporate the cultural dimension in their methodological
paradigms. We can notice such a theoretical path in the history of the
young discipline known as Translation Studies, evolving from what can be
called a structuralist orientation to the present predominance of
cultural trends. A determining factor for this has been the close
relationship between this recently consolidated discipline and the more
traditional ones, such as linguistics and literature, as well as the
points of confluence with the field of Cultural Studies, which arose in
Europe in the 1950s. This paper explores some of the most relevant
aspects of the aforesaid path in Translation Studies and its points of
intersection with Cultural Studies.
