JUAN B. LAGARDE AND THE SECRET POLICE IN MEXICO CITY, 1858-1860

Resumen:
The following article analyzes the role of Juan B. Lagarde as head of the secret police in Mexico City during the civil war of the Reform period (1858-1860), the importance they had in both control and security which were established by the conservative parties of general Felix Zuloaga (1858) and Miguel MiramOn (1859-1860) to patrol, persecute and imprison anyone who was seditious or pose a threat your administrations. We see his tireless effort and excessive methods as chief of political police to counter the government agents which during the three years of conflict, conspired and worked against to promote insurgencies. Feared, hated, yet respected by the people and its political adversaries, Juan Lagarde fulfilled the mission that the regime emanated from the Plan of Tacubaya entrusted him.
