Resumen:
In this work, we studied the influence of the magnetic field configuration on the resistance to the corrosion of CrN coatings, obtained in a system of Unbalanced Magnetron Sputtering (UBM). The different configurations from the magnetic field were quantified through geometric unbalanced coefficient K G. The microstructure was analyzed by means of scanning electronic microscopy (SEM), and phases and preferential orientations with X ray diffraction (XRD). The corrosion resistance was studied by Tafel polarization in a 0,5M H2SO4 - 0,05M KSCN solution and spectroscopy electrochemical Impedance using a NaCl 3% solution. In general, the configuration of the magnetic field influenced in the preferential orientation of the coatings: With KG = 1.3 the CrN films had a (200) preferential orientation and with KG = 0.85 had a (200) (111) mixed orientation. Smaller corrosion rates were observed in the coatings deposited on AISI 304 steel substrates with KG = 1.3. © 2011 Universidad Simón Bolívar (Venezuela).
