Resumen:
Coronary disease mortality has decreased in western countries. However, heart failure remains as an increased public health, mainly by having better treatments of ischemic disease which impact in the population survival. Heart failure patients show the highest hospital readmission rate and an expensive cost in their treatment. They also exhibit several psychosocial consequences during the course of the disease such as comorbid behavior restrictions, psychological stress, depression and a diminished quality of life. This article presents evidence about these facts stating that heart failure patients should be evaluated in a comprehensive way including both medical and psychological factors.
