Resumen:
Wood and bark anatomy of a new genus and species in Anacardiaceae are described: Attilaea abalak E. Martínez et Ramos. The stem samples were collected on Calakmul region, Campeche, Mexico, in tropical dry forest on hazy soil. Thin sections of wood and bark were prepared by means of a sliding microtome and stained with alcian blue-safranin. The anatomical features were studied on transverse, tangential, and radial sections. Wood significant differences in features anatomical were found in comparison with those of S. purpurea, the most similar species in their neighbouring. The analysis of anatomical features and significant habit scandent in A. abalak, lead to conclude that is different taxon as indicate Martínez and Ramos (2007). © 2009 Akadémiai Kiadó.
