Resumen:
Corrosion control is the major concern in the petroleum industry, specifically in environments, which include CO2, H2S, and chlorine. Many organic inhibitors have been used to mitigate corrosion. This control has been focused mainly in pipelines and production equipment. Applying different electrochemical methodologies to X-65 carbon steel in the presence of CO2 and H2S, and moreover in the presence of amine based inhibitors, the film kinetics of X-65 steel for the system Fe-CO2-Cl-H2O. The addition of 100 ppm of CO2(aq) to the 3% NaCl solution showed formation of different corrosion products, e.g., FeCO3 and iron oxide, interaction of ionic species to the barrier layer formed from electrochemical reaction products provoked more noble potential vs. SCE for static and rotation rate conditions. Inhibitor 1 formed a layer in static conditions that substituted the corrosion product layer formed when no addition was considered. Inhibitor 2 showed more stable layer with two time constants that covered more homogeneously than inhibitor 1. Competition for the active sites were covered preferentially with H2S even at equimolar concentration.
