Resumen:
Objective: Evaluate the importance of the pre-emptive analgesia induced by transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) on the abdominal constrictive response (ACR) evoked by Perezone in the mouse. Material and Methods: 64 male mice of the CD-1 strain were employed assigned into 8 groups (n = 8 each group). Group I received intraperitoneal (IP), Perezone (5 mg/kg), group II received the IP vehicle (oil corn); the animals in group III received placebo TENS during 30 minutes and subsequently 5 mg/kg IP Perezone. Groups IV and VIII were subjected to different frequencies of TENS (10, 20, 40, 80 and 160 Hz) respectively during 30 minutes. Subsequently these were administered 5 mg/kg IP Perezone, having registered the ACR number 20 minutes later. Results: Kruskal-Wallis test was applied to the results (p < 0.05 statistically significant), having found the preventive antinociceptive efficacy of the TENS in groups IV to VII with p < 0.05 and non-significant in group VIII (160 Hz) with p > 0.05 with respect to the control groups (I and III). In group II (vehicle) did not register capacity to induce ACR. Conclusions: Findings indicate that TENS frequencies lower (10, 20, 40 and 80 Hz) are more effective to induce a preventive antinociceptive effect in this experimental model with relation to high frequencies (160 Hz); It was concluded that TENS is an effective procedure as preventive analgesic.
