Resumen:
Frequently oncologic patients during the course of their disease present deep venous thrombosis or pulmonary embolic complications, which are of difficult control and treatment with anticoagulant therapy. We present our eight year experience with 23 patients with cancer, deep venous thrombosis and or pulmonary embolism that required the placement of the Greenfield filter. The pathophysiology and frequency of the thrombotic tendency in the oncologic patient is discussed as well as the incidence of ocult cancer in the patient with deep venous thrombosis. We mention and present the results of iatrogenic deep venous thrombosis associated to Broviac-Hickman or Port-A-Cath catheters commonly used in the chemotherapeutic treatment of these patients.
