Resumen:
The analysis of arrival times and first motion data indicates that the focus of the (14:54 GMT; 6.6 mb; 7.0 Ms) Huajuapan de Leon, Oaxaca earthquake is located at 18.03oN and 98.20oW and 65 km deep inside the Continental Plate. The main rupture occurred as normal faulting probably along a fault striking N 88oW and dipping approx 26o toward NNE. The aftershock activity defines a 32 km long and 10 km wide elongated area oriented NW-SE. The seismic intensity distribution shows a clear amplification towards the SE as compared to the N due possibly to an energy focusing phenomenon, caused by the orientation of the fault and the rupture mechanism itself.- from English summary
