Resumen:
This technical note describes the design and operation of a simple machine to fatigue pre-crack standard single-edge notched three-joint bend-type specimens, for K//I//c, C. O. D. and J//I//c testing. This machine is a displacement-controlled device, where the force is applied as a result of radial movement of a ball bearing mounted on an adjustable double eccentric hub. Each rim is machined with an eccentricity of 0. 6 mm, so that load point displacements ranging from 0 to 1. 2 mm can be obtained. This allows choice of maximum applied load (P(max)) to obtain fatigue stress intensity values (Kf(max)) according to those recommended by the proper standards.
