If M is a closed, orientable, irreducible, Riemannian 3-manifold that admits ?1-injective embeddings of the torus, then the area-minimizing ?1-injective immersions of the torus into M are embeddings or double-cover embedded Klein bottles, unless M is one of the three examples given. © 1995.
