Elemental Composition and Estimation of the Pre-Hispanic Settlement Chronology in Southwestern Aguascalientes, Mexico: A Survey Study

Resumen:
We report the results ofXRF and magnetic properties analyses applied to ceramic samples from archaeological sites in southwestern Aguascalientes, Mexico. These studies allow us to estimate the chronology of occupation of these settlements, as well as to discuss the local ceramic production and exchange networks. The information obtained points to the time period corresponding to the Epiclassic (AD 600-900), while XRF analyses indicate that the pottery was made using essentially local raw materials.
