Resumen:
Polarization is a prevalent feature of politics and ideology in the world and often the result of attacks, lies and distortions fostered by main public actors and stakeholders (e.g. governments, the media, private industry, and citizens). In Mexico, during Andrés Manuel López Obrador's (2018-2024) term, we have seen a discourse of dissent where proponents defend antagonistic and incompatible views, but they do so in an allegedly deliberative environment. In this manuscript, we analyze the arguments and strategies of one of these specific types of instances around the Electricity Industry Law Reform proposed by President López Obrador. This dispute is made up of a variety of argumentative acts that revolve around the defense and disqualification of the images that the contenders are looking to reflect of themselves and their opponents. © FRANCISCO IVÁN DELGADO Y LUISA PUIG.
