Exergetic analysis of advanced absorption refrigeration systems operated with geothermal energy

Resumen:
This work presents the theoretical evaluation of exergy performance parameters of a single-stage, a double-stage and a half-effect absorption cooling systems driven with geothermal energy operating with H2OLiBr. The energy is supplied by an existing well in a town in Mexico. These systems were simulated to verify the operating conditions under which these systems can be coupled to the geothermal facility and to determine theoretically their performance. Exergy efficiencies ?ex and irreversibilities were determined for the three systems at different generation and condensation temperatures, identifying the operational limits. The results showed that in general ?ex increases with the decrement of the generator temperature condenser temperature, and the irreversibilities increase with the increment of these two temperatures. The half-effect system presents the lowest ?ex; however, it can be operating at the lowest generator temperatures. The highest irreversibilities were obtained with the double-effect system due to the highest operating temperatures. © 2023 Begell House Inc.. All rights reserved.
