Resumen:
Fishing has occurred in Metztitlan lake (Hidalgo) since ancient times,
so it is no wonder that many hydrobiological, ecolog-ical, and
historical investigations have been conducted; nevertheless, there is a
lack of studies focused on the social aspect. The terri-torial processes
that have taken place since 1950 were reconstructed combining geographic
and anthropological methodologies; the interviewees' memories date back
to the1950s and extend until 2020, the year when the lake dried up. In
addition, the relationship between the two overlapping territorialities
is studied: the state (relative to the State) and the one from the
community (linked to local agreements). The results set apart three
stages: `non-capitalist' (1950-1984), `capitalist-productivist'
(1985-1999), and `towards green capitalism' (2000-2020); also, the
interviewees claim that the lake turned into a capitalist territory due
to the public powers that initially were supposed to improve the
region's diet, and that later, it would turn it into a commercial
activity. Ultimately, they confirm that the territorial relations are
convergent.
