Resumen:
We discover an environment-assisted quantum discord mechanism (ENAQD),
similar to the phenomenon termed environment-assisted quantum transport
(ENAQT), in the chromophores network of the Fenna-Matthews-Olson (FMO)
pigment-protein complex from green sulfur bacteria Chlorobium tepidum.
We use the Local Quantum Uncertainty (LQU), a discord-like quantifier,
to identify the subsets of chromophores whose quantum correlations
simultaneously increase with transport efficiency across the FMO
complex. The subsets of chromophores that exhibit the ENAQD dynamics
correspond to the final part of the energy transport pathways across the
FMO complex and their LQU might be working as a resource for the energy
transfer task.
