Resumen:
Lymphedema is the increase in volume of an anatomical region. The infestation was named elephantiasis by Wucheria bancofti and in 1934 Castellani added nostra to add other causes. It is secondary to superficial lymphatic obstruction, extravasation of lymph and activation of fibroblasts. Clinically it presents with keratosis, papules and nodules of warty appearance. The diagnosis is clinical and histological (dilation of lymphatic vessels, interstitial edema and increase of capillaries and fibroblasts). The best treatment is compressive therapy. With regard to the low frequency of this entity, we report the case of a 26-year-old man, with HIV, who, after the Kaposi's sarcoma regression treated with chemotherapy presented new neoplastic papillae in the pelvic limbs; diagnosis of verrucous lymphedema was confirmed by histological study. Patient was treated with compressive and surgical therapy with good functional results. © 2019 Comunicaciones Cientificas Mexicanas S.A. de C.V.. All rights reserved.
