Resumen:
The purpose of this article is to know the current state of theoretical
construction of communication research in Mexico, through identification
and analysis of objects of study and theories that are handled in 90
theses of the Programa de Posgrado en Ciencias Politicas y Sociales,
UNAM, which were elaborated from the year 2012 to the date and were
published in TESIUNAM system. This is a quantitative study that develops
an analysis based on 16 reagents, to establish the incidences of lines
of research and topics; elements of research design; theoretical
frameworks, authors and reference works; methodological approaches and
techniques; types of results and degree of original theoretical
construction. Data obtained emphasize the dispersion of themes, the
preference for qualitative approaches and for certain authors and
reference works; as well as the low level of criticism or original
theoretical construction, even in PhD theses.
