Resumen:
A one dimensional model of a thermosiphon is considered for a general heatflux per unit length and includes viscous effects through the introduction of a friction factor corresponding to laminar flow in a straight pipe as well as for a Reynolds number dependence of the power law type. Though the general time dependent behaviour is non-linear, linearized dynamic analyses are presented for the start-up and near steady state problems. In the latter case, an oscillatory behaviour can sometimes be expected. The root mean square velocity fluctuation during periodic motion is also determined. (From author's abstract)
