Pantoprazol as inhibitor of API 5L X52 steel corrosion in HCl 1M

Resumen:
In this paper the study of increasing concentrations of the organic compound also known as a drug, pantoprazole, and its corresponding active substance on the inhibition of corrosion of steel API 5L X52 exposed to 1M HCL, was studied using electrochemical impedance (EIS). The resulting impedance plots show a continuous increase in the value of | Z | as the amount of inhibitor increases in testing solution. At a concentration of 20 ppm of the drug, its corrosion inhibition efficiency reached 92% and 78% for the active substance; overall, the maximum efficiency at 100 ppm reached 97 and 85% respectively. On a complementary respect, the thermodynamic analysis to obtain the Gibbs free energy of adsorption gave -6.40 kcal / mol, thus indicating that a physisorption process. ©The Electrochemical Society.
