Experimental check on the accuracy of Timoshenko's beam theory

Resumen:
The calculation of the flexural normal modes of a long beam with a thin rectangular cross-section using TBT and plane-stress elastodynamic theory was presented. The TBT solutions were compared with the theoretical benchmarks. The normal-mode frequencies and amlitudes were measured for flexural waves using electromagneticc-acousticc transducer (EMAT). Analysis shows that TBT predictions are rather accurate for not too high frequencies.
