Resumen:
An analytical method based on Solid Phase Extraction on-line coupled to Liquid Chromatography was developed for the trace determination of the herbicides 2,4-D and 2,4-DB in water. A small precolumn packed with a polymeric reversed phase was used for the extraction of the solutes from the aqueous matrix. Further cleanup of the extract was performed by the transfer of the ionized solutes to a second precolumn packed with an anion exchanger Finally, the latter was coupled to the analytical column for the on-line elution, separation and UV detection of the analytes. The precision (< 3%), recovery (?100%) and detection limits (?, 1 ?g/l) of the method, joined to the possibility of its automation, render it as an ideal mean for the regular monitoring of these two herbicides in natural and treated waters.
