Resumen:
The attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a pathological entity with a main place in the neuroscience research. Nevertheless, there are no paper on the relation between electroencephalogram's (EEG) absolute power (AP), an the cognitive deficits of the ADHD patients. The goal of the present work is to determinate if there is any relationship between the AP of the EEG registered in with the eyes closed, and four variables for evaluating some neuropsychological process (perseverative errors, nonpersevarative errors, rule violations and time violations) as evaluated by two test: the Tower of London-Drexel ant the Wisconsin Card Sorting Test, in 71 ADHD patients, between 6 and 17 years old. Positive and significative correlation were found between the AP of the deltha and theta bands, and the perseverative error and time violations; while the rule violations correlated with the AP of the deltha, theta and beta bands. These correlations may show the underlying association between abnormal brain activity organization and the cognitive deficit of the ADHD; and they also show that this disease, considered an important mental health issue effects mainly the cognitive and behavioral spheres, has indeed a neurobiological basis.
