Dermatologic consultations made by the various departments of a national hospital for children

Resumen:
An analysis of 1002 consultations made by the Department of Dermatology of the National Institute of Pediatrics of Mexico City in a 12 years period to hospitalized patientes of the different pediatric specilities was made. The categories of skin diseases most frequently diagnosed were: infections, immunoallergic and inflammatory. A correlation was made with the underlying pathology. The pediatric specialities most frequently asking dermatologic consultation were immunology, nutriology, hematology and neurology. The correlation between the clinical diagnosis made by the pediatric specialists and the diagnosis made by the pediatric dermatologists was good.
