Resumen:
A commercially available rigid styrene flat bottom microplate with 96 wells of 6 mm each was modified by removing the bottoms of the wells (2 methods are described). The plate can then accommodate 4 standard microscope glass slides (indicated by 2 diagrams). The assembly of the plate for use (cleaning of the plate and slides and sealing of the slides into the plate) is described. This is followed by a description of the sterilization of the assembled plates. Examples are given of research work for which the plates can be used (growing cells in monolayers, virus titration by decimal solutions, serum neutralization test, radioisotope work and scanning electron microscopy). Centrifugation of the plates, removal and staining of the slides as well as recycling of the plates form the final sections of the paper. (Woerdeman, Amsterdam.)
