Resumen:
Properties of the individual eigenstates of a nuclear Hamiltonian at very high excitation are in general impossible to analyze. Instead, statistical properties such as the spacing distributions are discussed. In this paper we give evidence that these distributions, which up to now have been observed in the slow-neutron resonance region and also in (p, p') reactions involving isobaric analogue states, are also valid in the ground-state region. This we do by introducing the notion of the nuclear-table ensemble. We also show that the available evidence allows us to connect the ground-state region and the highly excited part of the spectrum within the framework of random-matrix theory, which thus acquires more physical reality. © 1976.
