Resumen:
Pt/SiO2 catalysts were synthesized by the sol-gel method using a square planar metal precursor and tetraethoxysilane. The solids were characterized by FTIR, UV-vis (diffuse reflectance), X-ray diffraction, scanning and transmission electron microscopy, and gas adsorption. The results were compared with those obtained in conventionally impregnated catalysts. It is shown that in the sol-gel catalysts an unusual interaction between the metal and the support exists, which is not present in impregnated catalysts. © 1993 American Chemical Society.
