Resumen:
The low-lying levels in 198Au have been studied by means of the 197Au(n,?)198Au reaction, using the technique of Average Resonance Capture. The results yield a complete set of states with J?=0--3- up to an excitation energy of 1 MeV. The data are used to examine the validity of a recently proposed symmetry scheme for odd-odd nuclei which simultaneously reproduces the spectra of the neighboring even-even, odd-proton, and odd-neutron nuclei. It is concluded that the existing theoretical framework is too restrictive to provide an acceptable description of 198Au. © 1986.
