Resumen:
Hydrocarbons obtained after combustion of tropical organic soils at two temperatures (350 degrees and 500 degrees C) were investigated and were analyzed in ash and emissions. Some aromatics were used to calculate diagnostic indexes to discern whether they are emission or ash generated. In emissions as in ashes, higher hydrocarbon concentrations were found at 350 degrees C than at 500 degrees C. Concentrations found do not exceed actual regulations; however, in the tropics, combustion is often incomplete, meaning a constant increase of hydrocarbon input to the environment. Based on these findings, the planning of a monitoring system is advisable.
