Resumen:
In this work, we introduce a numerical study of an upward air stream, in an isothermal atmosphere, moved by a fan. First, the fan pulls air from the surrounding soil surface, sending it to an isothermal atmosphere. The proposed solution is based on high-order schemes, Large Eddy Simulations, such as the turbulence model, and the use of Immersed Boundary Conditions. Finally, modeling of optimal fan operation is proposed in this work, to show the influence of some geometrical parameters on fan performance. The system can work with environmental or closed room flows. (C) 2010 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
