Risk factors associated with painful diabetic neuropathy [Factores de riesgo asociados a neuropatía diabética dolorosa]

The DM is a public health 's problem associated to a damage of multiple organs and secondary pain of polineuropathy. Objective: Identify the risks factors associated to the develop of NDD. Method: Retrospective, Descriptive and Comparative study of 87 patients divided in two groups: 1) patients with NDD and 2) Patients with NDND. Results: The prevalence of NDD was greater than NDND; significative statistic difference was found between the groups in comparison whith the blood glucose levels, glycosilated hemoglobin levels and time of course of DM. NDD was more prevalent in the female gender. Likewise NDD had a earlier onset in relation to previous reports and it was associated to the next comorbidities: hypertension, dyslipidemias and sleep disorders.
